What are Assistive Technology Devices and Services?

Any product or piece of equipment used to maintain or improve the functional capabilities of people with disabilities is an Assistive Technology Device.  Any service that helps an individual select, purchase or use an assistive technology device is an Assistive Technology Service.  These services are available to persons of all ages: infants to older adults.

Assistive Technology Loan Closet

North Country maintains a Loan Closet of over 400 pieces of Assistive Technology for individuals to try out.  A wide variety of equipment is available, including kitchen aids, dressing aids, vision aids, communication aids, signaling devices, magnifiers, assistive listening devices, amplified phones, adaptive recreation aids, and other devices for increasing independence.  North Country also has an accessible computer work station for persons to try various adaptive hardware and software.  Most equipment is available for loan to consumers for up to 30 days for try-out evaluation.
